CDNN
Cyber Diver News Network is a known hate website that claims to deliver "world scuba news worth knowing". In truth is they are copyright infringers, which means they literally steal other's material without the author's permission. Many authors and artists have been violated. CDNN steals images from photographer websites, removes the copyright notices, and uses them for headlines in their news articles. The news they claim to author is content that was lifted from genuine news distributor web sites. A simple google search reveals where the news originates from. Articles that have been stolen from other websites and posted as "Powered by CDNN".

BEWARE
CDNN is a:
Thief of scuba photographs
Known spammer
Thief of diving industry news
Hate site developer

WARNING
CDNN:
CDNN does not have a valid address
CDNN adds your email to spam harvesting software
CDNN hides behind the internet
CDNN has been closed down legally several times

We have yet to find anyone who has ever received a newsletter from the HUGE distribution list they claim to have, yet they claim their newsletter are more popular than all others combined.

NEW! WE WILL BE POSTING FIRST HAND EXAMPLES HERE:

WHO IS CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK?

James Christopher Hart

CDNN.info and other cyberdiver websites are run by one guy who's got a bug up his ass about the dive industry. He tried to start a company named UES in Washington state by applying for a business licence but the permit was closed due to no activity. The address used for this was the Alki Avenue is the same one he used on some of his old domain name registrations. The address is a PO Box not a office. A permit was required to open the bank account at Bank of America in Issaquah that he uses to extort money from the dive industry. Later he tried to use this name as UES Global Publishing to make himself look like a legetimate publishing company. VIEW PERMIT / VIEW SOURCE

A huge THANK YOU to the individual that has sent us this information! Please keep it coming

ScubaMagazine.net not run by the same people - Read on!

Another forum website has been brought to our attention. They are known spammers on many other forums, boards and membership websites. The guy who signs up presents himself as a female named "idivechick", also uses the name "Sarah". This person has been banned from most the reputable forums he has spammed, but you'll still see the name pop up in others. Just like CDNN the sponsor ads on the website are fake. The small sponsor ads listed there were stolen from another forum. The owner of this site had made the same efforts to block his identity as CDNN and promotes himself as some kind of marketing genius.

CDNN SPAMMERS EXPOSED!!!
CDNN is a well known spammer in the diving industry. They won't admit it and attempt to hide it. This is how they make their money. When and if you subscribe to CDNN or any of their network of sites, your email address is registered immediately with spam harvesting software that distributes your email around the internet to other spammers.

CDNN THIEVES EXPOSED!!!
Its incredibly sad that we have to write this page to warn divers who stumble across the CDNN websites of what they are actually reading. One group of individuals has filed dozens of complaints about inaccurate facts, false accusations, blatant lies, not to mention dozens and dozens of stolen images that appear on their web pages.

Warning: If you have images on your site digitally watermark them today as we are now doing with all of ours protect yourselves from CDNN THIEVES!!

CDNN ScubaPoll.com RANKINGS
The CDNN website ScubaPoll.com posts lists of dive operators, liveaboards, travel specialists, photographers and other industry products and services. They claim the rankings are the result of votes by their "more than 114,000 dive consumers worldwide" - and makes it appear as though you have the opportunity to cast your vote. Only several years ago they claimed a quarter million consumers. Have they lost half their audience? If you've ever tried to vote, you would discover that they harvest your email address AND your vote never counts! What's posted online is nothing more than a list of those who have PAID to be at the top. At the bottom of the list are the victims of their hate; advertisers who cancel their contracts with CDNN, photographers who have contacted them about copyright infringement, and dive operators and liveaboards who refuse to be blackmailed by CDNN. Try voting! You will find out that it will make little if any difference because the rankings are fixed. They control the results no matter how many times you vote!! CDNN are fixers liars and cheats. CDNN claims to be the site you can trust for news, how many thieves and liars do you trust?

Additionally, you can track the history of this fixed ranking system by using services such a web.archive.org. You'll find that the rankings haven't changed much since the first day these pages went online.

CDNN BOYCOTT
What can you do to help? For a start, delete CDNN from your favourites list and read a scuba news site that posts legitimate and original news, not stolen news collectively gathered under the CDNN banner. You could try Divernet, UnderwaterTimes, DivePhotoGuide, or Divester. Please note we are do not patrol the credibility of any of these sites. Make your own judgement. We will not recommend any website that uses CDNN content.

CDNN offers an RSS feed. DO NOT USE IT. It helps to promote them in the search engines. DO NOT LINK TO any of their web sites.

Watch for blogs and forums where CDNN and others attempt to promote the web sites. Be sure to add your comments and link to this site.

People are listening to the victims of CDNN on forums and are circulating emails about CDNN's disgusting and illegal activity. You can help by writing to the key figures and organisation's in the industry. Many emails are already being circulated in an effort to encourage the boycott their sponsors.

Statement by Peter Hess, US attorney: "The CDNN website is out of control. This is outright Internet libel. However, CDNN is financed by its advertisers. Why not start a boycott of everyone who pays money to these bastards? The dive conference season is upon us. How do you think the folks manning the various booths--travel destinations, equipment manufacturers, etc.--will react if a couple of dozen furious divers inform them that they will not purchase their gear or book a trip to their resort because they support an anti-wreck diving website? I predict that CDNN's revenue will evaporate very quickly. Money talks."

Join the anti-CDNN alliance and boycott the CDNN sponsors. Do not book with these operators. The current list of sponsors to date are:

  • Action Divers operating in the waters of Puerto Galera
  • Dive VIP, Puerto Galera's dive operator in the Philippines
  • SS Thorfinn dive charter in Truk Lagoon.
  • Subway Water Sports, Roatan Island in Honduras
  • Tropical Beach Resort, Honduras, Caribbean

Past sponsors who no longer support Cyber Diver News Network are:

  • Cuan Law in the Caribbean / British Virgin Islands & Lammer Law in Galapagos (note from the owner)
  • Island Dreams Travel - Stopped advertising and has been labeled as a spammer, when it was CDNN who was doing the spamming, not Island Dream.
  • Manthiri - Stopped advertising which resulted in domain hijacking and extortion
  • SUUNTO - Never was a paid advertiser. They didn't even know CDNN had these ads on the site
  • Current movie ads displayed on the CDNN site is NOT a paid advertiser.

Please circulate these listed sponsors in an effort to boycott them and be sure to tell them why they should not be paying the wages of thieves next time you see these operators in a booth at a dive show. Currently a large group of people are talking Peter Hess's advice and are intent on making this happen. You can also email these operators and inform them. Please help! The more people that help, the stronger the alliance becomes. Good luck.
